Why are so many LDS people / people in Utah and the Mormon Corridor into Reiki / "Energy Work"???

"There is good medicine, and there is bad medicine. Not all medicine is good medicine."

One great evil is that men are ignorant of the nature of spirits; their power, laws, government, [and] intelligence and imagine that when there is any thing like power, revelation, or vision manifested [assume] that it must be of God...

- Joseph Smith, “TRY THE SPIRITS," Times and Seasons, April 1, 1842

Now the Holy Spirit explicitly says that in the last days some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.
- Paul the Apostle, 1 Timothy 4:1

For the time will come when men will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap for themselves teachers, having itching ears. - Paul the Apostle, 2 Timothy 4:3

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with diverse lusts, ever learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth - Paul the Apostle, 2 Timothy 3:6-7

Reiki is a false spirit and a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. Anyone who desires to use any spirit other than the Holy Spirit (or alongside the Holy Spirit) is saying through their actions that the Holy Spirit is inadequate (whether they realize it or not.) 1 John 4:1, "believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." John says that the spirit of antichrist has been operating on the earth for the past 2000 years. Paul says that anyone who disobeys the light of Christ is a child of disobedience and is therefore operating under the spirit of antichrist. Ephesians 2:2 (KJV), "Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience." (See also: Job 24:13 (KJV), "They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof." Not all "light" is the light of Christ, (2 Corinthians 11:14).

It is true that there is a "life force" that permeates all things. The Light of Christ and the Holy Spirit are different degrees of that life force (the contemporary word "energy" is a misnomer, the scriptural word, "spirit" is more accurate). This is the "ether," "chi," etc. spoken of in other times and places.

The power of God operates through the Holy Spirit. If you want to wield the power of God you must do so via the Holy Spirit.

Proof that Reiki and the Holy Spirit are not the same thing:

Reiki requires initiation. If you have already been baptized by the Holy Spirit you do not need any initiation.

Reiki uses symbols. You do not need to use any symbols when you wield the Holy Spirit / power of God.

Reiki has hierarchical levels in it's self-described hierarchical "system," which includes the title of "Master." Jesus Christ said, "Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ," Matthew 23:10 (KJV). If Reiki was the power of God it would not require the use of a "system."

The founder of Reiki and his successor had a steep fee structure. According to one source well versed in the history, "At the time of Usui-sensei and Hayashi sensei, it cost a lot of money to become a Reiki practitioner. Only wealthy people could afford to become First and Second degree practitioners...I don’t know why Usui or Hayashi charged high fees. Hayashi charged 50 yen at that time. He taught a five-day workshop to minimum of 10 students. At that time, it was a lot of money...I asked my teacher, Mrs. Yamaguchi, “What could you do with 500 yen?” She said you could buy a small house." https://reikiinmedicine.org/reiki-basics/reiki-healing-money-hyakuten-inamoto/

Most contemporary Reiki practitioners charge money.

Charging money to wield the power of God's Holy Spirit is, by all scriptural definitions, priestcraft.

There are only two primary spirits operating in this world (as described above). Every other spirit is just a variation of one of those two spirits. For instance "a spirit of fear," mentioned in 2 Timothy 1:7, is one of the "fruits" (or qualities) of the antichrist spirit. A spirit of joy, mentioned in Galatians 5:22, is one of the "fruits" (or qualities) of the Holy Spirit / Light of Christ. Every entity, whether on earth or in the spirit realm, is possessed by one of these two spirits.

Many people would be surprised to know that the antichrist spirit is a very "religious" spirit. It is the antichrist spirit that is sustains the Pope as a legitimate representative of Jesus Christ. It is the antichrist spirit that is the spirit behind any LDS person who trusts in the arm of flesh, and upholds the traditions of men, and the philosophies of men mingled with scripture, and who puts a man (Russell M. Nelson) in between them and Jesus Christ. The spirit of antichrist is the religious spirit of the Pharisees and Sadducees that persecuted and had Jesus Christ killed, all the while thinking they were doing God a favor (John 16:2). The antichrist spirit can cause un-Christlike spiritual entities to appear as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), or wicked human beings to masquerade as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:15, Jude 1:4). It is the antichrist spirit that can perform "lying signs and wonders" (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

One of the definitions of antichrist is "in place of." People using Reiki are doing so "in place of" the Holy Spirit. No man can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). A person has to sacrifice Reiki in order to be in obedience to Jesus Christ and receive the blessings thereof, including healing (D&C 130:21).

Reiki was given a false Christian narrative in order to make it more appealing to people in the west.

Many people are enamored with the "trappings" of Reiki and other spiritual counterfeits (whether they realize it or not). They love the symbols, they love the systems. They love the fancy embroidery. To some of these people the Holy Spirit is boring (even if that thought has never crossed their mind - but their actions demonstrate that they believe, consciously or otherwise, that the Holy Spirit is inadequate or else, why the need to replace it with something else?). But Jesus Christ gave me a word to share with those people, "they stumble because of the simplicity of the way."

I pray that anyone involved with Reiki will repent of it, and lay down everything to obtain the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and then learn how to do spiritual warfare / engage in Mighty Prayer instead of Reiki. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
